Leader: Resistance economy is needed to defy sanctions |
|
Islamic Revolution leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says that the resistance economy can prove a success in defying economic pressures. |

The leader said in a meeting with government officials on Tuesday that the resistance economy calls for the implementation of the Constitution's Article 44 on privatization and empowerment of the private sector, less dependence on oil, consumption management, optimal use of time, resources and potential as well as moving according to plan, the Office of the Islamic Revolution leader reported.
The leader said that the big capacity of the Iranian nation helped the Islamic establishment surmount all challenges successfully and grow more powerful than before.
The leader added that the Islamic system needs a proper mix of idealism and realism as well as a correct look at the country's capabilities for a successful passage from the ups and downs in its forward-moving march.
Ayatollah Khamenei underlined that people's demands, including national dignity, participation in the country's management, progress, economic-political independence, and international respect are all in line with the Islamic Revolution's ideals, saying this shows that idealism does not contradict realism.
People and officials should seriously and logically pursue the ideals if they want to see actions and not talks only, the leader said, adding a wrong path would be chosen if the realities on the ground are ignored.
The leader went on to say that the enemies of the Revolution and Islam are trying to cause miscalculations by people and officials through fabricating realities, adding the enemy is downplaying the potential of the Iranian nation and playing up the power of colonialism. He said that we would step into the wrong path if we accept such fake realities.
Fulfilling the ideals comes at a price, the leader said, adding that a slip would be made if part of realities is ignored and all real issues are not taken into account. He said that the Iranian nation is facing challenges in its way toward ideals but the route ahead is not a cul-de-sac.
Ayatollah Khamenei continued that the enemies seek to force Iranian officials to review their calculations through sanctions and pressures but that realities when taken into consideration would help the Iranian nation go ahead with more determination and confidence.
The leader said that growing pressures by some colonial powers on the Islamic Republic is a reality which should not be ignored, adding these powers which enjoy political, economic and media capabilities are trying to prove themselves as the international community but this is not true.
Their animosity has its roots in the real nature of the Islamic establishment but they try to pretend that they are opposing the Iranian nation because of the nuclear issue and human rights, the leader said.
The fact is that the Islamic Revolution has inspired awakening in the world of Islam and they try to give a lesson to others by dealing a blow to the Islamic Republic, the leader added.
Another fact is that the front led by the U.S. and Zionism which is opposing the Islamic system is one the decline, the leader said, adding that failure by the Zionist regime in its wars against Gaza and Lebanon as well as U.S. problems in Iraq and Afghanistan are examples of their plunging capabilities.
The leader then likened the economic problems in the West to a bus caught in an avalanche and said the economic woes Iran is facing resembles the problems of a mountain climbing group which face difficulties as it is moving toward the peak.
As for the country's declining population, the leader said that Iran would encounter an aging population soon if it sticks to birth control, adding those in charge should review the family planning policy and the media and clerics are expected to build a culture for that.
At a time the country made some retreats in the nuclear case a while ago and this emboldened the West, the leader said, adding that today's nuclear gains and scientific achievements would have been absent if the country had continued those retreats.
Ayatollah Khamenei further said that the enemy is seeking to harm Iran's national welfare and growth through these economic pressures and to dissuade and separate people from the Islamic establishment.
The leader also highlighted efforts to mange consumption and consume national products, advising the officials to prevent useless differences and to protect the national unity.
He said that playing a blame game by three branches of the government is harmful, adding the fact is that problems do exist and that they should be solved by unity and prudence. He emphasized that it is surely possible to happen. |
